S02e29 features Jay back to chat with Mike and oft-co host Markings about what’s happening aka the haps. Things kick off with Jay talking about his recent conversion to Islam and engagement to marry and the group explores Markings’ arrival to the podcast and Jay’s feels in that regard. They discuss Combat Jack and Mike disagrees that Lasers bears any resemblance to his show, they talk rolling backwoods and break down influential rappers by category. Jay explains his sudden change of heart and briefly touch ‘pon Awkwafina before they hit Top of the Hour. They discuss weaponizing drugs and alcohol, compare and contrast Future and Young Thug and explore the inherent problems with sleep deprivation. They move on to Costco hot dogs, talk west coast beats and the hyphy sound taking over cali, and Mike disparages Guru. They workshop beard trying technology, talk Premier and then Jermaine Dupri and examine whether it’s wrong to watch true crime. To close out they talk different saxes, whether Jay has a Muslim name and final words should the world end. Lazzzzers!

S02e22 features Markings back as co-host as he and Mike welcome Stephen Malhotra aka Punjabi Playboy aka PJPB aka PJ aka Double P aka Spook One to the podcast! They kick things off by getting to know PJ as Mike calls him a little before talking Drake’s influence and beigeness. Moving forward Markings and Spook play Mike’s Hot Take Invitational (First Annual) where they hot take against one another while Mike arbitrates before they talk whether charisma is king in rap and hit Top of the Hour and answer some questions. The gang discusses the Montreal music scene, who’s popping out here and then the problems inherent to art in Quebec before Double P starts his self-portrait and gets deep about his content. Mike and PJPB recall an internet incident they once had over some of PJPB’s work, Markings spills tea about blocked opportunities for Montreal rap radio and Spook shares his major daily needs. The group discusses why Montreal rap struggles to find its place, how to come to terms with front facing camera usage and how they want to be remembered/eulogized before talking top humans on earth. To close out they talk spicy takes on Montreal music and the pursuit of happiness, really.

Episode 9 of season 2 welcomes the hosts of the Don’t Be Mad podcast, so it’s kind of like (podcast) squared. They start off by talking fraternities, where the Don’t Be Mad guys school the Lasers on university life, and the group picks sides on using coasters and Jay shares a sad(?) story that involves sex and christmas.  They discuss sexual proclivities, expanding personal horizons, and then the unfortunate turn of events that is Bill Cosby. The Lasers introduce a new game, Top of the Hour, where everyone picks a random question and gives their best reply and they explore real and imagined hurdles to beach resorts. The group breaks NDG down into parts and the Don’t Be Mad dudes share their hopes and dreams for their platform and teach the Lasers about anime. They close out by discussing cartoon sex, naturally.

In episode 28 of Lasers on the Ride, Dirtwork’s Scene Tings, Montreal producer/manager/getitdone’r Dirtwork rolls through, bringing artist Treh LaMonte in tow. Dirtwork shares his background, speaks on his time spent in Atlanta and talks his come-up along side Montreal legend Bad News Browns and rapper/friend Magnum. The group discusses influences and influencers and preferences in this music shit. Kanye is broached and they disagree as to the replay value of 808s and Heartbreak. They pick least favorite Kanye songs, talk Kanye’s character, and discuss/laugh as to who would win in Eminem vs Drake. Mike and Dirtwork discuss chords and process in production and agree that Drake didn’t have no goddamn ghostwriters.  The gang discusses Montreal rap, the scene and its peoples, talks its politics and Dirtwork drops knowledge.   They pick worst hat game, talk tucked ears and dad hats, and play what colour is Memphis Bleek’s du-rag? To close out Treh LaMonte talks his first musical influences.

In episode 13 of Lasers on the Ride the gang welcomes Montreal rapper and frequent collaborator Shogun to the podcast.  Things kick off with Jay suggesting a way of giving back to the community that naturally involves penis before discussion shifts to the much-maligned “dress code” rules of the early and mid aughts. Shogun teases Akil with the idea of “Marvel Comics”-centric episode of Lasers and Mike reveals his thoughts on the Rza and Vancouver. Shogun speaks on the hidden racial attitudes in the city before metro stations are pitted against one another and Mike attempts to prepare the guys for an eventual zombie apocalypse. To wrap it up the Lasers tackle guns, violence, the consequences of said violence, and why “Braveheart” is trash.

In episode 9 of Lasers on the Ride the guys discuss Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and then keep digging deeper into triangles and get real about the food pyramid. Akil wonders/worries whether he is a negative nancy on the internet but chalks it up to being a gemini. Mike and Jay overindulge and discuss “nature’s instruments” and Akil pushes Daredevil. The Lasers scheme on where to hide the stash. Mike besmirches Karen Civil’s name and Bobby Brown catches his first W in a long time and high praise from the Lasers.
