S02e29 features Jay back to chat with Mike and oft-co host Markings about what’s happening aka the haps. Things kick off with Jay talking about his recent conversion to Islam and engagement to marry and the group explores Markings’ arrival to the podcast and Jay’s feels in that regard. They discuss Combat Jack and Mike disagrees that Lasers bears any resemblance to his show, they talk rolling backwoods and break down influential rappers by category. Jay explains his sudden change of heart and briefly touch ‘pon Awkwafina before they hit Top of the Hour. They discuss weaponizing drugs and alcohol, compare and contrast Future and Young Thug and explore the inherent problems with sleep deprivation. They move on to Costco hot dogs, talk west coast beats and the hyphy sound taking over cali, and Mike disparages Guru. They workshop beard trying technology, talk Premier and then Jermaine Dupri and examine whether it’s wrong to watch true crime. To close out they talk different saxes, whether Jay has a Muslim name and final words should the world end. Lazzzzers!

The Lasers kick off episode 2 of season 2 (Robbing Season?) with Oprah talk, where they expound her many achievements, and then the Baltimore accent. Jay shares his dislike for Charlamagne and defends Lakeith Stanfield while Mike shares his dislike for Lakeith Stanfield and defends Charlamagne. Mark Cuban’s gross behaviour and large fingers get aired. Mike and Jay have a serious discussion surrounding privilege, white and otherwise (ok just white), and discuss what it means to really be an ally. They talk male pattern baldness and general hat remedies while Jared Leto does Japan. To close out they explore accents some more and talk Cardi B and the Bronx and National Geographic finally coming to terms with their extra-problematic history.

Just Another Tupac Vortex, s01e41 of Lasers on the Ride, opens with Jay not getting a job and trying harder to get the job and Akil confusing Boy George for Chris Isaac.  He shares a curious take on Donald Glover’s Atlanta and confuses Lyle Lovett for Chris Isaac. Mike and Jay witness two musicians sage-ing the shit out of their lives by trashing their old albums and discuss physical fitness in relationships. Mike tells the improbable tale of Neil Young and Rick James’ shared history and the Lasers discuss Tupac’s discography despite not being big Pac fans. They talk the Tupac vortexes that naturally occur around congregating white people and revisit awful Canadian rap. Jay closes out the episode with stories from when he wrote an advice column for YM magazine haha.

In episode 28 of Lasers on the Ride, Dirtwork’s Scene Tings, Montreal producer/manager/getitdone’r Dirtwork rolls through, bringing artist Treh LaMonte in tow. Dirtwork shares his background, speaks on his time spent in Atlanta and talks his come-up along side Montreal legend Bad News Browns and rapper/friend Magnum. The group discusses influences and influencers and preferences in this music shit. Kanye is broached and they disagree as to the replay value of 808s and Heartbreak. They pick least favorite Kanye songs, talk Kanye’s character, and discuss/laugh as to who would win in Eminem vs Drake. Mike and Dirtwork discuss chords and process in production and agree that Drake didn’t have no goddamn ghostwriters.  The gang discusses Montreal rap, the scene and its peoples, talks its politics and Dirtwork drops knowledge.   They pick worst hat game, talk tucked ears and dad hats, and play what colour is Memphis Bleek’s du-rag? To close out Treh LaMonte talks his first musical influences.

In episode 7 of Lasers on the Ride the guys welcome back KC, whose rise to prominence was swift following episode 6.  First things first KC makes his own theme song and the Lasers establish their top 5 rap beats OF ALL TIME. Jay reveals his take on fudge/marry/kill and it’s pretty bleak stuff. KC drops a freestyle as a KC is wont to do and the world cheers. Donald Trump gets broached. Akil laughs HARD. Mike recounts a life changing event. Jay pushes the boundaries of the mile high club and KC recounts the summer he spent at the Jersey Shore house right before it became famous. To finish it off the Lasers talk baseball, the exploits of Ricky Henderson and whether Tim Raines was a jerk or not.

In this episode of Lasers on the Ride, Akil, resident patty man, spreads the wealth. Jay and Mike broach the controversial subject of the ladies in these here streets and ultimately disagree. Akil isn’t here for Facebok and Lou Gehrig catches another L. Mike reveals his idea for his Adult Swim show while Akil reveals that he is a magnet for communists. One man’s poop becomes another man’s problem and Mike plays a clip of samurai wisdom that will change lives. Finally, the Lasers discuss the beauty of an 'I don’t give a whaaat' moment in its various iterations.
