S02e31 is here and the Lasers welcome journalist/writer/tv newsman Julian McKenzie to talk a lil bit of everything with Mike and Markings. The discussion opens up with talk of Julian’s investigation into Artbeat and they talk Kaytranada and his 99.9% album and Quebec media’s response to his success. They talk Kanye a lil, what’s going on there and his process in production, and then rundown Julian’s professional life at the moment, including weathermanning on tv. They talk finding samples and Markings puts forth a way to test hip hopness that Mike and Julian dispute before they hit Top of the Hour and answer some questions. They talk a bit about the GOAT conversation and discuss the difference between mixtape and album and whether there is one before discussing some of the artists they’re currently bumping and shouting out Dirtwork for his placement on Carter V. They discuss what it means to be black and talk some of the signifiers and then pick dream guests for the podcast before Julian talks about his biggest interviews to date. Episode 12 of Lasers on the Ride welcomes founder of IX Daily, media personality and Montreal art scene staple Nick Brutus Grass to make jokes and discuss serious stuff. Conversation kicks off with talk of North vs South Carolina before the Lasers make Nick draw a self portrait and they get esoteric about art and life. Nick talks discovering new music and his passion for that stuff, ranks his best qualities and then breaks down some theories for the Lasers. They discuss emerging Canadian talent and the senseless attack levied against IX Daily before hitting “Top of the Hour” for some in-depth - trivia, is it? They play “Weird or Wavy” where they qualify increasingly bizarre things/concepts as either weird or wavy and Mike talks about his new fern while Jay makes a hose/hoes joke. They discuss ASMR videos and explore the pickle lady’s oeuvre and youtube therapy before Nick gives some insight into his career path thus far and his vision for his platform and self. To close out, they unveil Nick’s self-portrait and his space plans for the future. Lasers!

Episode 36 of Lasers on the Ride, ERIN WILLETT’s Garden of  Eden, features Erin Willett, a brand developer/strategist and owner/founder of the Tap in Team. The episode kicks off with talk of the current work climate and where employment is headed and then how to brand masturbationfromhome as a hustle. They play Fuck it Pick a Record!, Erin talks why “artist” is a heavy ass title, takes us through her come up and explains why everyone should pick up what she’s throwing down. She coaches the Lasers through their brand and Jay coaches everyone through that coke life. The group explores Akil’s perceived negativity and tries to break it down into components and the studio’s bathroom catches an L but then a W. 808s and Heartbreak gets no love again despite Erin’s best attempts and the group picks guests for the dinner party of their dreams.

In episode 7 of Lasers on the Ride the guys welcome back KC, whose rise to prominence was swift following episode 6.  First things first KC makes his own theme song and the Lasers establish their top 5 rap beats OF ALL TIME. Jay reveals his take on fudge/marry/kill and it’s pretty bleak stuff. KC drops a freestyle as a KC is wont to do and the world cheers. Donald Trump gets broached. Akil laughs HARD. Mike recounts a life changing event. Jay pushes the boundaries of the mile high club and KC recounts the summer he spent at the Jersey Shore house right before it became famous. To finish it off the Lasers talk baseball, the exploits of Ricky Henderson and whether Tim Raines was a jerk or not.
