I can't wait to see this right here, organized Noize mean a lot to a motherf**ker like me. They were probably the first time I'd heard something in rap that felt new. Now when you look back it's not just the amount of classics they've created but the variety too. I mean, when curtis mayfield lay dying in a hospital bed, it's organized noize that he called to make his last album. If that doesn't say it all then you're f**king wildin'.
February 14th, 2016 will go down in the record books as the first time in NBA history there will be no white players on either of the all star teams. With that in mind, I present to you this informative? news piece called "Where has all the white NBA players gone?"
The best way to screen this is with the sound off while listening to "Fear of a Black Planet". Let Chuck D scream at you while you watch Jerry West's nub of a penis retract into his scrotum as he suggests that the zone defense was brought into the league to allow white players to defend more competitively. This slightly confederate expose also makes a clear distinction between white European players and white American players. Mark Price had no comment as to whether or not they smell any different.
Twenty sixteen baby! I'm utterly flabbergasted by this and frankly I love them for it. Notice weezy in the ovo sweatsuit. You have to respect the way weezy supported drake, assuming he hasn't "baby'd" him of course.
All girl RnB groups were my jam in the nineties. After reading a bunch of favorable reviews for King's debut record it occurred to me that there really hasn't been an RnB girl group* that's not a bunch of cornballs post Destiny's Child. That's a long f**king time. Quest loves em, Erykah loves em, Prince loves em. I haven't gone too deep* but this video/song is dope though. I could see myself dancing to this at an afterhours party, slightly on the comedown, drifting in and out of hating and loving somebody. A+ for the Nintendo inspired visuals, reminds me of the hours I put into making Excitebike courses. Ramp after ramp after motherf**kin’ ramp.
Editor's Note: Did you hear this one? This sh*t is amazing.
This sh*t right here! I don't want to take away from it's individuality but that hardly matters i this case because this sh*t is beautiful. It sounds as if one of the jagged edge twins broke up with his longtime live in girlfriend and took a deep dive into depression, where after a sustained period of missing rehearsals, refusing to sing leads, and showing up to shows in leather when they agreed on denim and denim when they agreed on leather, he was kicked out of the group. If he then got with the rza and the rza started spitting that science and mathematics in his ear, pulled out a three stringed guitar, and they made a track, it would sound like this. It would be perfect. Which I shouldn't have to tell you but who knows what's going on with you nowadays.
Jay sent me the link to this series of photographs called "old new york" by camilo jose vergara. As he no doubt knew, it's all shot in my favorite decade, the seventies. Unfortunately the seventies were not kind to the south bronx and les. So much so, that by the end of the decade it had inspired vergara to shift his focus and systematically photograph the decay in the urban landscape. Now I obviously learned all this just mere moments ago but as far as life work goes, this motherf**ker's doing it right. He's been taking pictures at regular intervals from the same spots in various neigborhoods in nyc, camden and newark, detroit, chicago, gary, and los angeles. If you like that kind of thing, it's f**king beautiful and sad and triumphant and sad again. It could also just be a tab you leave open but never end up clicking on. I can't tell you which one is best for you.
I have no idea where I came across this right here but this sh*t is a heat rock as your mother allegedly used to say. All I know is that he's from arkansas and he's got a f**king hilarious moniker. These guys have to be on tour in this video, that's pretty much what our first canadian tour looked like. Except we had a bunch of south americans with us and everybody looked dead from consumption and sleep deprivation.
It's no secret that we here at hella.diamonds would all list Peedi Crakk in our Top 5 DOA. This opinion is supported by his inspired performances on some of the illest mixtape and radio freestyles ever recorded. It's been a minute since he's released anything new, stating in a recent-ish interview that he needed to step away from the game for awhile to take care of his family and grow up a little. Until that sorts itself out, whenever I need some grimy percocet rap, I'm in the archives. That's how I found...
THIS.
If rap had an all-star league with starting fives comprised of the top 5 rappers from each city, Peedi, Beanie, Black Thought, Meek Mill and Freeway would probably take Philly to the conference finals. Maybe win a ring or two with Big Willie Style behind the bench. Imagine if that was the lineup for State Property 2016? Someone get Dame on the phone. Until then this is the closest it'll get.
This is how you write a hook right here. I chose the remix because I like when it gets a little west coast at the end. I like everything with just a little bit of west coast at the end. Hahahahaha, whatever that means. He's got a line about n.e.r.d in there somewhere. I just thought you should know, in case you share similar interests, that first album is a monster after all. Oh sh*t I almost forgot but the original is dope too! the beat has a real, shall I say, japanese vibe to it.
Everyone's favorite bon vivant idiot savant is going to go ahead and direct/star in the zola story. You might remember the "zola's story", it swept through twitter like a motherf**king brush fire sometime in the recent past? If you allow me to summarize for time, the one lady meets this other lady and they go down to florida with two fellas and everyone has a great time. Great time meaning tricks are turned, guns are shot, and boyfriend's are cuckolded. Who else but franco could make a film about the most popular thing we all forgot about? I was just trying to figure out if he's going to play the african dude or the stripper chick. Franco's got the world by the f**king balls man, I'll tell you that. He's the kind of guy that won't understand any of your jokes but he'll laugh at them while secretly thinking they make no sense. At one point the world thought this fella was a serious actor. Hahahahaha. He definitely still thinks he's a serious actor. That's why I like him though, that despite-all-evidence-blind-confidence. I always had to work on something until I felt I was capable enough in it before I could find that glow, this dude pops out of his hyperbaric oxygen chamber just stunting.
I've never really been into food "shows" but bronson is a reliably engaging personality and my lady likes these things. I realized I'm a victim of the times though when I saw bronson's name just now and thought "damn this dude fell off"... you know what I mean? just because I hadn't seen his face in around three months he's fallen off, like you've cooled off bro, get your f**king equipment and get out of here. Hahahaha. I haven't watched this one yet but I can tell you from the thumbnail bronson goes to the philippines* and eats a sandwich with mangoes and pork.
* I just saw the title of the video. The location is jamaica. The meal might still be a sandwich with mangoes and pork though. No telling.
This guy. With his first television appearance. I've noticed colbert is really trying to be the hippest with the musical guest choices. It's working though. The real performance starts at a minute fifteen but you should check out the first song to decide whether it includes an interpolation of the "spottieottiedopaliscious" horns. That second song is the sh*t. He even flosses a bit and gets on the drums. Musical motherf**kers love showing you they're musical motherf**kers.
I've been seeing all this talk around the internet about ranking the albums of a certain jayz. This I imagine will go down as the definitive list. I'm not going to talk about any of them because I've given this sh*t enough thought for a lifetime.
- Reasonable Doubt
- The Black Album
- The Blueprint 2: The Gift and The Curse
- The Blueprint
- In My Lifetime Vol 1.
- Vol 3: The Life and Times of S. Carter
- Vol 2: Hard Knock Life
- Kingdom Come
- American Gangster
- Blueprint 3
- Magna Carta Holy Grail
There's definitely a trend post kingdom come. If you're wondering, I didn't include the dynasty album because we're talking solo over here. Now I'm going to tell you how to establish what type of person someone is based on which album in jayz's ouevre they think is the best.
- Reasonable Doubt: this person is intelligent, really see's things for what they are. Has a slight tendency towards veering into self-absorption.
- Vol 1: this person has a vivid recollection of at least one "important" bottle popping experience. Does a lot of talking. Might still rock a platinum chain.
- Vol 2: this person has a hot97 tattoo. Would probably f**k dmx. Is definitely a good time.
- Vol 3: this person claims to have always been a fan of ugk. Has their life together. Other than the ugk lie.
- The Blueprint: this person also thinks college dropout is the best kanye album. Claims eminem shined more on renegades. Really disappointed in how the whole obama thing turned out.
- Blueprint 2: this person knows whats up, there's some jams on that motherf**ker, jays rapping harder than ever.
- Kingdom Come: this person actually read superman comics. Says they're "not a huge fan of music, really".
- American Gangster: this person is tripping. All the time. Not the fun kind of tripping either. Probably spent their fair share of time lining the walls at the club.
- Blueprint 3: this person never has and never will exist.
- Magna Carta: this person is hella old and yet, had never owned a rap album before.
Montreal singer/songwriter/producer (also frequent cannonhead collaborator) The Youngness, formerly NKLA, just smoke-bombed us with a new EP entitled "Black Moods". This 4 song instrumental collection showcases The Youngness's elite production range with beats that will make you do shoulder dances while deciding if today will be the day you finally launch yourself off the Jacques Cartier bridge. Montreal winters build character and more often than not that character develops a bad habit of chain-smoking cigarettes with a perma-scowl usually hidden under racks of MOOG gear. In MTL that’s what we like to call “Un bon plan d’action”. For his last official release as NKLA, The Youngness delivers a pleasantly depressing soundtrack for a cold February evening. When the sun goes down at 4pm and the only thing you can do until you go back to bed is look out the window of your filthy studio apartment and say "F**k thaaaat sh*t, I'm stayin' in and making beats".
